Hooker on the Hook
While in Amsterdam I was challenged to get a picture of a woman behind the window in the Red Light District. I read that this is difficult and even dangerous as there are hawkers that will think nothing of throwing your camera into the canal for such an offense. This did not stop me however.
| Camera | Konica Minolta 7d |
| Lens | Minolta 50mm f/1.4 |
| Shutter / Aperture | 1/40s / f/2.5 |
| ISO | 1600 |
I stood over the canal and took a couple of shots aiming generally down the strip. Then I turned and pulled this one off. Thank goodness for Minolta's anti-shake stabilization, this image came off sharp enough.
It was a little dark, a little over saturated, and a little grainy at first but I think I was able to post-process it to make it interesting. I'd love to know what you think!
I am just glad the camera didn't end up in the canal!

Incredible--this looks perfect to me--the bright pink and orange lights inside the windows, the people on the street, the stairs on the left side of the image--all gorgeous! I think you've pulled this off marvelously, and I'm awefully glad your camera stayed in your hannds as well! :)

Interesting shot. I think it might have been stronger if zoomed in a bit more on the woman.
Congrats on shooting in such dangerous conditions, though! :)

Very nice...and incredibly lucky :) I know people who have been chased down the streets of the red light district because they took pictures.

oversaturated? why's that a concern here? i think its fucking great. the unnatural color light glow deserve nothing less than that kind of treatment. its like a shot from a movie.
