Saddest India
The first entry into the photoblog! Choices...choices...
For the life of me, I cannot remember why the words "Saddest India" popped into my head while I was taking this photo. I saw this basket as we were crossing the bridge over the artificial lake at Brindavan Gardens in the State of Karnataka and that is what popped in my mind. If I really think about it, I think it was just because I was fed up with the litter everywhere.
Camera Konica Minolta 7d Lens Minolta 50mm f/1.4 Shutter / Aperture 1/160s / f/2.2 ISO 100
When I post-processed this, I reduced the saturation by about 40% in order to remove the attention from the foliage and draw it towards the basket and the rocks.

Congrats on your first entry! Welcome to the crazy world of photoblogging! I love wisps coming out of the foliage that match the basket. That water is very clear... and the rocks make for a great patterned background for the basket.

Thank you all very much for your nice comments. My goal is to do a picture a day, 7 days a week, as I have a reasonable backlog of photos I can potentially post. I hope you find at least one more that you find interesting!
Wim, I like the wisps in the green--I feel they go along with the basket as Charlie has said--but I don't really like the "puffs" at the top right of this image as I think they are distracting. If I had a chance to do this image again I would have increased my DOF to perhaps make those resolve a little more clearly and not be so nebulous. What do you think?
